Hi,

I'm using ArcGIS 10.5 on Windows 8.1.

In the image below I am attempting to write SWAT precipitation files. I believe I have created the point file (in British National Grid so not lat/long) correctly with an ID and elevation field (m). I created the input precipitation in the format as discussed in the help, YEAR, DAY and Gauge columns. This is a DBASE file (does that matter?). If I select the ELE field for elevation it shows the correct values in the Step 1 dialog.

I click on Continue and complete step 2 as shown in figure.

I then press Write and I get this message:

The error box appears after the thiessen and intersection layer have been created.

I press OK and it appears to complete. If I go to the next stage of write swat2000 input files none of the drop downs has anything in them to select so I cannot continue.

I have noticed if I do not provide any elevation values with the gauging points it does not throw the error but the next stage of creating the swat2000 input files is still empty, i.e. none of the drop downs have any layers to choose.

Please advise I really am stumped here!

Hi Duncan,
Let me do a little testing and get back to you. It's possible we introduced a bug in a previous update or a change in ArcMap is causing a problem because the workflow you used it correct and that error message should not appear. I'll post back in a day or two once I've had a chance to test it.

Duncan,
I was not able to reproduce the error with my own data. Can you share the SWAT_Gauge_Locations feature class and the swat_precipt_sample.dbf?

Thanks
Shea

Hi Shea,

Was just in the process of packaging up the data when I decided to test if it was to do with data on different drives. So I restarted the project on my c drive and got as far as the parameterization step, this takes a long time then catastrophically crashes arcmap with the last message saying tabulate area. Looking at Google groups I remember seeing an answer about geology not covering the area. I'm wondering that this error occured and I forgot and it is having a knock on effect on the precipitation part. So I will have a play at that before I send the data.

Hi,
Happy new year. Please I encountered a problem while writing my SWAT 2000 precipitation . Gage ID number isn't appearing in gage ID selection box. Any way around it? Many thanks.

Abbey
