[Google Ads API] Shopping Product Ad Headline Differences

Hi,

When I get Shopping Product Ad Data from the AdWords API Ad Performance Report, I get "Product listing ad; Promotion:"

back as the result. Now, when I get the data from Google Ads API (which from the Migration Guide should be "ad_group_ad.ad.text_ad.headline")

I get nothing. Is this known and expected behavior, or is the data missing?

So I can further investigate, could you also provide your clientCustomerId, the AdWords API report definition and also the GAQL that you used to generate the reports? You may send your reply using the Reply privately to author option.

Hi Peter,

My mistake - I sent you the AdWords API report file. It's my understanding that GoogleAds does not have a report file concept.

As I mentioned before, the response I got from GoogleAds for "ad_group_ad.ad.text_ad.headline" (which should match according to the Migration Guide) was empty.

Could you please take another look?

Hi Kevin,

My apologies for the delay. Upon discussing with the rest of our team, it appears that the field you specified is intended for a text ad, not really for a shopping product ad, so it's expected that nothing is returned. Shopping product ads, by its nature, probably doesn't contain any headline fields that the user in the UI can modify by themselves directly.

The Headline field in the AdWords API is probably populated automatically somehow but that part would be the same for all shopping product ads. With that, it would appear that the Google Ads API does not support returning the fixed headline anymore.
