Using Adaptrade Builder to Improve Existing System

Hi Mike,

Is there a way to use Adaptrade Builder to improve an existing system? For example, I have a relatively simple trend-following system that is "pretty good" but I'd like to find a way to improve the win percentage. Is there a way I can use Adaptrade Builder to find ways to enhance this existing strategy? If so, how?

Do you have the strategy in Builder, or can you add it to Builder using Builder’s editor? If so, then, you can use the program to modify it. That’s one of the use cases for the lock options when combined with the  cloning feature; see the user’s guide section Build Settings, Lock Options and the section Build Results, Build Results Tables for the section on the cloning feature. I also wrote a newsletter article about the cloning feature: http://www.adaptrade.com/Newsletter/NL-StrategyCloning.htm. The basic idea is to add your strategy to Builder, clone it to fill out the population, lock the sections you don’t want to change (if any), and build from there with Reset On Build turned off.
