BC Randonneurs, Van Isle 1000 Grand Brevet Summer 2022

Plan your 2022, 1000 km brevet now. If you are thinking of doing Paris-Brest-Paris in 2023, a SR series and a qualifying event of 1000 km or greater allows you an earlier opportunity to chose your Paris-Brest-Paris starting time in 2023. Even if you are not entering PBP, a scenic, comfortable (in Rando terms) ride is being organized.

The Van Isle 1000 km Grand Brevet is scheduled for Sat. Aug. 13 to Tues. Aug 16, 2022. Registration will open early in the new year. The RwGPS links will soon be added to the website shown below

ENTRY FEE- $295 before June 15, 2022 and $395 after June 15, 2022

ENTRY DEADLINE- July 15,2022 Later registration is possible but accommodation may have to be at another hotel where a premium may apply.

START/FINISH LOCATION- Waddling Dog Inn, Victoria, BC, Canada

DISTANCE- 1000 KM

TIME LIMITS- 75 Hours

QUALIFICATIONS- 200,300,400,600 KM series in 2021 or 2022, or as approved by organizers.

RIDER LIMITS- 30

ROUTE DESCRIPTION- This route has been designed to take in the best road cycling on Vancouver Island. The route includes some majestic vistas and beautiful scenery. 99% of the roads are in good condition. The amount of climbing closely mirrors Paris Brest Paris with mostly gentle grades and some nice long descents and flat sections to give the riders a reprieve from any rolling hills or climbs. Magical sites, great bakeries and coffee stops along the way add to the charm of this ride. A camera is a must, as on our return to Victoria we use the quaint Mill Bay ferry, a short (20 minutes) but beautiful crossing of the Saanich Inlet.

Announcement on PBP 2023 . Wim

A message from Jean-Gualbert Faburel of Audax Club Parisien:

The next session of Paris-Brest-Paris will be held next year from August 19 to 24. The rules will be roughly the same as last sessions. Pre registrations in early 2023 will help riders to enter PBP and to be able to choose easily their favourite starting time. To pre-register, riders will have to use the longest BRM ridden from November 2021 and October 2022. The starting point is not yet decided but Rambouillet should be the final decision. I will let you know as soon as possible.
