Thanks for the last update (june 2020) but the pen button tool doesn't work anymore (galaxy tab s3).

In fact the button with the erase command works if you start to write first, and then by pressing the button the erase function appears. Before the update, I pressed the button and I could directly delete.

The split view is a good idea, and the pen toolbar is cool.

Sorry, I am not seeing a recent update, but I'm on the beta channel (version 2.0b10).  Is the update for the regular channel?  What is its version number?

Hi,

Same here, only version 2.0x is available on Google Play.
I was able to download and install v3 from this page: http://www.styluslabs.com/faq

That said, v3 seems somewhat buggy and performance is significantly degraded as compared to v2
Hopefully this will be optimized

Pierre

I am rolling out the Android update slowly, watching for issues.  It can be downloaded directly here: http://styluslabs.com/write/write300.apk  I'll see if I can fix the pen button problem.

What bugs and performance issues did you encounter?  What device do you have?  Does this version work better: http://styluslabs.com/write/write300sw.apk ?

Best,
Matt

Hi Matt,

It is difficult to test as all versions are seen as one and only one version on Android (6.0), so one must uninstall and re-install each of v2, v3.14, v3.16 to test
But, when opening a file, scrolling (with finger) when there are lots of folders is much slower on v3 than v2 (v3.14 and v3.16 are similar)
Same for moving around a document, such as your Quick Introduction page, slower on v3 than v2
I have a Galaxy Note 4

Also:
- File/folder view is really not optimal, namely as only 7 characters are visible.
- A simple list view (without the large blue folder icons) would be much better.
- Lastly, having a Document > Properties command would help (with file location / size info)

Thanks

Pierre

Scrolling could be slower on older devices in v3, but writing, working with selections, zooming, etc. should be the same or faster - let me know if not.

I do plan to add a list view option - in the meantime, you could adjust the Icon size setting in the Document List section of advanced preferences (bigger icon -> more characters visible).

Best,
Matt

For what it is worth, I am running 3.0.17 on both an Android Samsung Galaxy tablet and phone, and it is snappy, and much less prone to crash.  I really like the new upgrades.  YMMV.

  1. I'll try to install 3.0.17 on my Note Edge and see if scrolling is improved. Never had a crash with 2.0.9
  2. Not fond of the new file format either, as Chrome cannot open it. File size is mostly irrelevant nowadays, compatibility should prevail
  3. I would be nice if this new version was seen as being different from 2.0.9 (Write beta) on the Play store, as it makes it impossible to have both installed at once

In advanced preferences, you can change the default file format to uncompressed svg or html + svg format.  svgz is a standard format - just gzipped svg than can be unzipped with any compression utility.  Chrome used to support it: https://bugs.chromium.org/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=942372

Matt

Hi Matt,

Indeed. I preferred v2.0.9 way where one could choose to save as a single file (my preference) as a separate setting, not based on the file extension.
Also, I used the "mostly unused" extension .shtml for Write documents, to separate them from "regular" html files. It was really handy, and this is no longer possible with v3.0
