Dear Weewx users: Recently I posted query in the forum and unfortunately I did not hear anything. We got a research project that require setting up PWS and Dashboard / platform like Weewx. I was overwhelmed by Weewx 'praise' and installed in ubuntu.. and trying to get data from RPi.. (partly succeeded) and need to verify the data with commercial PWS systems. Any help in this getting reference on stable PWS and bit basic configuration to get the data un interrupted (at least for 6 months is highly appreciated). If you don't want to post the help in forum you may kindly send the response to 'karthincl [** at **] gmail.com' Thank you in advance. karthi

weewx documentation provides list of compatible stations

Costs depend on your country - not all station types are imported into all countries - check with your local supplier

Just about all will operate uninterrupted - although you need to allow for spiders, storms, internet outages and so on - as per any IT project.

The location of the sensors will affect the accuracy of the readings - read various met office reports regarding height above ground, stevenson screens, distance from trees and white surfaces etc etc.

A logger of some kind will be required - most have a logger - so that recovery can be performed in the event of communiction failures.

Most station types have their individual quirks and issues - from Davis thru to FineOffset.

Only you can ultimately decide - and your decision may ultimately depend on local availabilty and support in the event of problems.

It is difficult to know what is available in India. Often the best buys
are actually rebadged versions of well known PWS.

Are you intending to purchase locally or to import? What sort of import
duties would be applicable?

A google search for "weewx compatible stations" returns a pointer to http://www.weewx.com/hardware.html which lists too many models to discuss here.   The hardware comparison link at http://www.weewx.com/hwcmp.html will probably help you assess what meets your needs.

We can't assess 'cost effective' for you.   Everybody has a different way to measure that.
