How about a movement which everyone SHOULD agree on? How about a movement which addresses REAL positive change?

How about joining forces with these people..... how about NOT feeling the need to "lead the charge" but just walk in the same lane?

If any of you have not seen this documentary, you owe it to yourselves to hesitate no longer.

What do you propose UCP do to stop honor killings?

For starters, make sure everyone on your committee watches the movie, and strongly urge the entire congregation to do likewise.

Shine as much light on the obviously disgraceful problem and throw support behind an existing effort which every
reasonable person or institution should support unequivocally and with maximum emotion.

Make a statement that THIS is what the war on women is.

This is way beyond Honor Killings, as you and all others are well aware: GMs, public whippings, women not being allowed to be educated or read, the stated "law" that men control women, and more. It is the acceptance and promotion of a way of life and treatment of an entire gender which is universally understood as a total disgrace and an affront to any person who claims to be driven by God. If Dr. King was alive, I assume he would be saying, "silence is betrayal" and lending a forceful voice.

Why not start by making this valuable and non-controversial documentary a well-advertised Friday night movie documentary. It has more to offer than a Michael Moore production.

I could go on for hours on this one, but any sane and reasonable person knows that what I am saying here is true.

Why not ask the congregation what they would like to do about it?

For starters, share the film with your friends and family and recommend they show others. At the end of the movie is a text number to send donations. I went to the movie with my daughter. We are both extremely thankful to have drawn the good fortune of being born here, living in this society, and being allowed to live a good life free from this type of tyranny.
