Hi,

We need to push ipv6 traffic into an ipv6 only network.
How do we go about doing it?

1) Using 2 physical SFP ports on my server [say 0,1]
2) Using 1 physical SFP port on my server (setting vlan)

3) Under what circumstance will trex not complain of link down?
It did complain link down when cable is physically disconnected in loopback mode [0,1]
But it did not complain of link down when I set it up to use mac based yaml setup
for the ipv6 network and then physically unplugged cable from one port.
4) Under what circumstance will rx bytes=0 even when tx bytes is LARGE
(no complaints on link down)

Can you please help?

5) Does DPDK which is a parallel entity to kernel, see the interface IP address?
Is the IP address a control plane identifier and hence can be used in yaml file?
(i.e., basically use the IPv6 I would have used in iperf)

Hi,
Could you say in which mode are you interested?

Dear Hanoh

I did not get your question. I need to generate and push ipv6 traffic into an ipv6 network.
Merely using ipv6 cap file and --ipv6 with 96 bits of ipv6 address is not helping. I need a better example/guide.

Hi Hanoh,
Can you help with stateful mode ipv6 traffic generation?

What type of traffic do you need to generate?
Is it Stateful or Stateless?
What type of feature do you want to test?

Thanks,
Hanoh

Stateful for now.
But we will need to test both TCP and UDP.

One of our networking persons told us that TRex does not seem to talk to NDP. Is that so?

Hi,
Yes, IPv6 NDP wasn't released yet.
For Stateful you will need to configure static route and static neighbor MAC to match TRex port MAC for IPv6.
We are adding the support for LXC-network support, so TRex would be able to have IPV6 ND Linux support but it wasn't released yet.

have a look here page 13 here for a workaround (ASR1k configuration):

ipv6 neighbor 3001::2 TenGigabitEthernet0/1/0 0000.0002.0002

thanks,
Hanoh
