By mistake i committed one file in SVN which i should not commit. I deleted that file but i want to make sure that file is not present in other's local drive also.

Is there any way to achieve this? Something like users has to do force update before committing nee change or any hidden trick that can be useful.

Early reply would be appreciated.

Thanks

Unfortunately other users would be able to view prior editions of the repository, and can check out files from any revision, even if you did delete it from other's drives. It's still in the repository, and others will be able to see it as longs as the repository remains.

There is no "obliterate" function in SVN, it is designed to never forget.

However, if you are truly desperate to excise the file from the repository, you'll need to be an admin-equivalent to try the svndumpfilter.
You'll not want to do that on the actually repository though, you'd want to back up a copy first.

Short of that, I have seen a paid third party tool that advertised that it could remove items from a repository, but I cannot remember what it was called and I could not find it again with google.

An alternative to the dump/load approach could be to restrict permission to that specific path. This is easier and faster to set up by an admin than the dump/load approach with the disadvantage that you'll not be able to use that path (f.e. to commit a valid version of the file) anymore.
