TiddlyWiki Hangout #104 is now available to watch on YouTube, with my guest Saq Imtiaz demonstrating the heavily customised TiddlyWiki that he uses for personal notes.

Many thanks to Saq for his time — and for encouraging me to start things up again.

Questions and feedback welcome,

Best wishes

Jeremy

Im in SHOCK.

This is amazing!! Way back in 2018 I was thinking of something almost EXACTLY like Saq's modal: https://groups.google.com/d/msg/TiddlyWiki/yKrgs5ENAII/521K7N7BAAAJ

Saq: Have you released your TW layout/workflow ? I would like to use your setup almost exactly!

Hi Diego, happy to hear you have explored similar thoughts and I am not the only one with wacky ideas :)

The plan is to clean everything up and section off the various features into plugins and publish them. Currently I am working on packaging up the two stories support.

It may take a while to get everything done. Not only am I waiting to incorporate some upcoming core features, but also the ongoing pandemic is placing extra demands on my time. I rarely get an hour or more of contiguous time to work on anything.

Also note that most of this is designed for my workflow and the various bits complement each other. So I do have concerns as to how reusable or useful this will be to others peacemeal.

Regards,
Saq

Saq - congratulations for a superior concept! That looks very practical.

You're addressing a weakness in TW that is not often talked about: TW is great for managing notes but not optimal for taking notes. Anyone attempting to use it during a live lecture will discover this within a few minutes. One of my own attempts to solve this was rQuickTid ("r" as in "remote") but yours is obviously in another league. I'm looking forward to when you publish it as I will use it!

I love the viewmode access to edit the tags. I'd prefer this over the current native behaviour and believe it would encourage tag usage even more. If there's ever federation or some other collaborative work around tiddlers then I think adding tags in view mode would be very useful. It could simplify a setting to  enable adding of tags but restricting modification of the tiddler content.

Anway, thanks to both of you for a really interesting hangout!

Lovely Mat!
I just add the alt+n as shortcut (overwrite the default one) and it fires as soon as I press alt+n

Just a minor comment, when resize window the text/tag/title are aligned in one line!

Cheers

Mohammad (and possibly Ste - who ya replying to?)

Thanks for input but we should not hijack Jeremys/Saqs thread about their Hangout.

Great stuffs Saq,
Many thanks! I am looking forward to see your great tool and give a try as soon as you published it!
It is quite true in real use case one understands note taking with TW needs to improve the focus on writing!

@Matt @Mohammad thank you for the kind words. It helps with motivation to actually get things ready for publication as time allows.

No worries on the off-topic chatter, I just figured you were bumping the thread for us ;)

Saq

Amazing work Saq! Hoping to see a working demo of this, no need to work on it further before sharing, I just want to play with it haha! :)
Publishing the various features as plugins as you mentioned would be super helpful, but until that happens it'd be neat to poke around in it.
