She got the good one -- I was extremely proud!

I caught just bluegill and redbreast.  Great day on the water!  We're exhausted now.....need to go to bed.

Thanks -- I'll pass it along to her.  She is even more of a Luddite than I am, which is actually saying a lot.  I think we were supposed to be born 100 years ago but something got screwed up and we ended up in the same era as Vin Diesel films.

Dan:  We do like the kayaks.  They're not 100% perfect but they are slow and very stable, which suits our (slow) pace.  I've learned how to fish somewhat comfortably and avoid most major tangles with it.  Sometimes funky stuff still happens and you feel kind of dumb out there -- but you get used to it.  The 9' rod works well for me now -- at first I thought it would be a problem, but I don't even think about it anymore.
The more I fish from the kayak, the more I think the 8-weight is the best rod for it.  It seems like I'm always finding deep spots where I'd like to sink a 1/0 lead clouser minnow or split shot (whatever) down 12-15 feet, and 2 trips now have had wind pick up with the sun to about 15 mph....plus I really love back-casting bluegill onto the bank on the hook set, and you just can't do that as well with a lighter rod!
