After giving the Valley a break all summer, I'm looking to get out there this Saturday. The flows, though, don't look to promising...

Has anyone had any luck out there recently? the mountain streams look too low, butif the bullpasture holds its level think I'll give it shot

Dan Thorman and I fished the South Fork of the Shenandoah River yesterday. Water was low and everything was covered in algae. In spite of poor conditions we still managed to catch close to two dozen Smallmouth Bass and a handful of Bluegills. Most of the Smallmouth where below 10 inches. We had 3 Smallmouth in the 11 to 13 inches range.

I fished it last weekend, low and clear. I caught a few wading, mostly dinks, with some bluegill thrown in. I went down to 3x because it was so sunny.

many thanks! Seems like its tricky everywhere out there, if you're not on the Shenandoah.

Passage seems like its not doing too bad, probably going to give that a shot.

I was considering floating via kayak in the area of Luray this weekend, do you think it is too low to make that worth it?

You may be able to get away with it: https://waterdata.usgs.gov/va/nwis/uv?site_no=01629500

A general FYI for area float trips, no significant rain is expected over the next two weeks.  Getting to be just as bad as last summer out there.

I know I'm late in this convo but I did float the doah last weekend and caught a bunch of smallies! yes, there were times we had to drag the canoe but mostly we found 8' to 4' of water we came across tons of monster smallies and caught a couple. So, if you're going to float DO IT!
