Hi everyone,

I'm Shrinivas Bhong, a B.Tech student in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science from IIIT Sri City, India.

I've recently started contributing to SymPy and am currently learning the core architecture (expression trees, Basic, Expr, Add, Mul, Pow, etc.) while setting up my development environment and exploring the codebase.

My long-term goal is to contribute consistently and prepare for Google Summer of Code 2027. I'm particularly interested in the lambdify, printing, and code generation modules because they closely align with my background in Python, AI/ML, and software engineering.

Over the next few months, I plan to work on beginner issues, understand the internals, and gradually contribute to these areas. If there are any good first issues or ongoing discussions related to lambdify, code generation, or printing that you think would be helpful for a new contributor, I'd really appreciate your suggestions.

Looking forward to learning from the community and contributing to SymPy. Thank you!

Hi Shrinivas and welcome,

Can I ask if you are introducing yourself here on the mailing list
because there are some instructions somewhere that say to do this?

Earlier in the year there were a lot of introductions because the GSOC
instructions said to do this and so we changed those instructions. I
am just wondering if there are other places where the instructions
still need to be updated.

I raised this question months ago. And it is still relevant. I mean -- if this is gonna be like that for the next X months, or a year, I will unsub. The forum is flooded by introductions, all important subjects are shadowed by "hello" and "gimme info what to work on". As a result, people keep deleting msgs from members of the group, getting immune to anything new and potentionally important.

Cheers,
O.K.
