Cars going "Unassigned" in staging

Greetings

I have a cargo - Winter Wheat - which is assigned to car type covered hoppers only of which there are four.  Under the freight car tab the cars are in staging and the cargo is "Unassigned".  I assign Winter Wheat to the cars, they come on the layout, load and return to staging where they unload but they also revert to "Unassigned" again.

I would appreciate some help please.

Unassigned simply means the cars haven't been assigned their next cargo. If the cars are getting stuck in the unassigned state and never get loaded, then there's probably no industry that will load them. Cars in staging get loaded if there's an industry in an offline or staging town that loads that cargo. SwitchList only loads as many cars as you specify in the rate, so if you only have an industry provide one car a week of winter wheat, then only one car in staging will get loaded each day.

So, if you haven't already:
Make an industry - "Cargill" and put it in a town which is "Offline" or "Staging".
Make sure "Cargill" is the source of a winter wheat load that wants to load covered hoppers.
Make sure the cargo's rate is enough to fill the number of cars you want to send per day.
