It’s a long book, it could easily take me until the end of June to finish proof-reading.

But I was expecting that the “manager” of a production would also do the final review. Wouldn’t that be simpler? Or does Alex want as many eyes on a production as possible?

What do you think of this for the cover? A good deal of the action of the book centres around the river Thames, particularly as it passes through London. This is Claude Monet's The Thames Below Westminster.

Right, sorry, forgot it was this book I said I’d look after 😅

I like it! It was painted 1870 so six years after the book, which means that the rebuilding of the Houses of Parliament was a little further on (completed in 1876). But who’s going to be that picky? PD proof is fine.

I think I’m going to throw this one back into the ocean for someone else to tackle. Other than picking a possible cover, which any else is welcome to, I haven’t done really any work on it for almost a year.

I think I’ll stick to slogging through Boswell with the occasional very easy project for light relief. Until Boswell is done, I won’t tackle any other big projects.

I may be best to start again from scratch, though. And I will reconsider my proposed cover; I think we have enough Monet pictures of London already in the corpus.

OK, I'm going slightly crazy here at the moment trying to finish this. 

The problem is to do with the se-lint-ignore.xml file, in which I have one entry.

I keep getting an error: [Error] Invalid path in `se-lint-ignore.xml` rule: `chapter-1-11.xhtml`. I've checked and re-checked that se-lint-ignore.xml is in the correct location (the root of the project). I've checked other productions to make sure it is in the right spot. No matter what file name from the project I put in paths in se-lint-ignore (such as 'afterword.xhtml') I get the same error. 

I've tried copying across the se-lint-ignore.xml file from other projects to make sure there's not some weird characters in my own. Nothing works.

My repository is here if someone can have a look and tell me what I'm doing wrong: https://github.com/drgrigg/charles-dickens_our-mutual-friend . It's probably something obvious but I can't figure out what.

Must be something going on locally—I cloned your github repository and have no problems running lint. The only error I get is that LONG_DESCRIPTION hasn’t been replaced with its value. No invalid path error at all.

Try renaming your local and reclone your github and see if it still persists in the newly cloned repository. If it does, then that would point to something locally with the tools. If it doesn’t, that would point to something locally in the old local repository.

I’m SE 2.10.0, but I run development, so I’m current with whatever’s in master.

I finally figured out what was going on with se-lint-ignore.xml on my computer, but only by installing the developer version of the tools and single-stepping through the code. I must have something wrong with my version of Python, because the function translate(path) returns a '\z' at the end which was causing a regex error to be thrown. I temporarily patched my version of the code to strip that out, and everything worked fine. I won't submit it as a pull request, though, because it may be specific to my particular configuration.

What version of python are you on? From where? (Homebrew, MacPort, etc.) I’m on MacPort 3.13.7, and haven’t seen that problem, but I haven’t seen it on previous versions, either. (However, I believe I skipped straight from 3.11 to 3.13, so I didn’t ever have 3.12.)
