Converting from slab to extruded aluminum has added some additional
weight to include a larger elevator. I'm running out of room on weight
... 25lbs is totally do-able but I have ordered 24cell sof NIMH AA
batteries and I'm going to switch from 1 12V 7AH SLA battery to 20x
1.2V NIMH AA batteries at 2500mAH. I should be able to discharge at 2C
with no issue and not a huge hit on capacity.
It's a total reduction of 4lbs to switch from 84Wh to 60Wh.. I didn't
dent battery life last year but again more weight. Unfortunately the
cost is a lot higher. 56$ for one set of batteries and I should have
2... one for testing and one for competition time. I got the SLA
batteries for $30ish.
I went with NIMH because I don't like trusting LiPos not to
accidentally get poked and go up in flames.

Maybe "we" should petition the rules folks to allow robots that are a bit heavier?
