Hi Smuggers -

My partner’s iPhone 6 has stopped working. Can anyone recommend a local repair person?

(We’re in Portslade).

Or would it be better to go to the Apple Store?

What’s the issue with it? Has the display stopped registering your finger? Or is it not booting at all?

Hi Sam - 

It’s stopped charging and has got the sad red battery symbol. 

Tried different lightning cables, as well as connecting it to his MBP. 

No change. Assuming that it’s the battery.

Hi Catherine,

I had a similar problem a while ago and it was caused by fluff and lint building up in the phone’s lightning port. I’d recommend having a gentle dig around in there with a plastic or wooden (not metal) toothpick before talking it anywhere.

Could be the charging port or the battery, a repair shop should be able to take care of that on an iPhone 6, there’s no waterproof seal which could be damaged by opening it.

Thank you, Sam and Darren, 

I’m guessing that it would be simpler to use a local shop. My partner went to the Apple Store last week and was told to make an online appointment for the Genius Bar. 

Google shows Halo Halo on Boundary Rd as the closest, so could try there. 

Last year I phoned Solutions in Hove about my battery, but they seem to not be trading. Does know if anyone can confirm?

Solutions has gone. And in Guildford and Chichester. There is a place which does apple repairs in Bramber ... I can’t recall the name.
