Hi all,

For some reason my wife’s phone had become extremely slow when trying to access thinks like the App store or Facebook, it can take several minutes to even see an image load.
This ONLY happens on our home wifi, if we are out and about the phone performs just fine.
However, My phone works perfectly well on our home wifi.
Any ideas?

Kind regards,

Steve.

ADDITIONAL INFO

My phone is an 11, hers is a 7+ and while here phone used to be just fine this phenomena started a couple of months ago.
I have tried resetting her phone but this made no difference.
The attached images are from the “general” info screens, echo appears to show different wifi info but I am not sure if this is due to the different phone models or if there is possibly a router issue.

First question: when was the phone restarted last?

Second question: when was the route restarted last?

I would try both and see what happens (if it doesn't solve it, please
tell us which model phone and whether it has much spare space on it).

Cheers,

Jason

Hi Jason,

Thanks for getting back,

The phone and router have been restated a couple of times, (I just did both again.) but it makes no difference.
My wife’s phone is the 128GB Seven Plus and there is 56GB free.

Steve.

Have you tried factory resetting the router?

Hi Sam,
I may not have done this since the problem started, will have a go after dinner, ( My wife is working from home, so need to wait until she has finished.).
Fingers crossed.
Steve.

Hi Sam,
Factory reset performed on the router, does not appear to have made any difference.
Cheers,
Steve.

It's basically a case of working up through possibilities. If you can access the router settings, check it's running at the highest speed; if it allows guest networks, try one of them. Deleting and reinstalling the apps, and so on.

Does she update iOS within the phone or via a Mac/iTunes etc? I'd try waiting until the next update is offered (turn off automatic updates on the phone) then do it via the Mac as it seems to use a more basic version (Sam may know more details). It's halfway to restoring but much simpler.

Sorry, these are rarely simple. It's a case of resetting things and escalating until something works.

cheers,
J

Cheers Jason,

She normally updates the phone direct, but I will try via the Mac next time.
In the mean time, I will have a look at router settings and possible contact the ISP

Steve.

Also check in Settings > Wifi > Tap on your wifi name > It should be set to use DHCP for getting an IP address, same for DNS servers. Make sure there aren’t any manually specified DNS servers in there as that could slow things down
