Hi,

Sometimes I need to export an unversioned copy of an earlier revision for side-by-side comparison. I can't find the equivalent of "svn export" command in SmartSVN. The closest I can find is the method describe at http://www.smartsvn.com/doc/display/SU/Check+Out . This is rather cumbersome and has no option of export from the WC. Is this feature missing in SmartSVN? If so, could I request to have it added? I think it should be a feature on par with Copy, Move, etc. in the Modify menu.

Both, the Check Out from the project window as well as from the Repository Browser should honor the configured scan revision for the export ("Export Only" option on "Project" page of the Check Out wizard).

Marc,

Thank you for the reply.

This "Checkout" form is considerably more complicated than what is needed for simple export of a single file. I just tried it and it's 5 clicks and changing two paths before I can export a single file. The whole thing took me about 2 minutes to get right. At the command-line it's as simple as "svn export source@rev dest". I don't mind the command-line, but there are users who are viscerally afraid of cli.

Why not make this operation use the same flow as "Copy" and "Move" which are available with a right click on the relevant file or directory?

My understanding was that you are looking for an export of the entire tree, not just a single file.

Single files can be exported e.g. from the Log's Files view or from the Repository Browser using Save As.

Thanks for that. I hadn't found it so far. This method works for single file. Our repo contains EDA data which are usually a directory of files that make a single component. Any chance this single file export method could be extended to directories?

Given that this use case sounds rather specific, I think that already mentioned non-recursive Check Out with Export option set is a reasonable solution.
