Richmond Bridge

Is the bridge still open to bicycles? I’m planning to ride over it next week.

I don't have the exact date when the change happens, but I had understood it to be in October of this year.

Note that there are often periodic closures, such as every weekday last week when the bike lanes were closed every day

There have been periodic closures - Here's a link to the current announcement:

I commute the bridge (by both car and bike) and have found that the CalTrans postings seem to change. I recall a notice that the bike lane would be completely closed the weekdays of Sept 8-12 and 22-26, but saw cyclists were on the bridge bike path when I drove over in the evenings last week..

Bruce,

The bridge path was indeed closed during the day for the old notice you saw. No idea if it was open at night, but the current notice is for nighttime,(Sorry if that affects some on this list).

Closure Details:

• Westbound I-580, Richmond San Rafael Bridge Lane #2 and Bike Lane will be Closed Weeknights starting Monday September 22nd, 7:00 PM to 5:00AM through October 2025.
