I have a 20% off discount code for Bike Monkey events. Email me directly if you would like it. Includes the Levi's Gran Fondo in April, starting in Windsor. Which - 20% off is a lot because that event has become pretty expensive.

On the one hand, I want Carlos to get more money so he keeps putting on the events, on the other hand if getting a 20% discount tips the scales to more attendees, then he does get more money, so ...

He really screwed up by putting it on the same day as Tierra Bella.

John (or anyone else),

I've done Levi's but never heard of Tierra Bella until today.  What's it like?  If you could pick only one, which?

Thanks,
Andy

I've done Tierra Bella several times - it's a good ride. ACTC is a pretty big organization (basically the SF2G for old retired San Jose people). A lot of the rest stops are stocked with home baked goods that the volunteers crank out. The post ride feed is good.

The loop around Gilroy Hot Springs is a nice climb, no real traffic, some pavement issues. The roads around Uvas and Chesbro are good riding (on the weekend anyway, for some reason there is a lot of commute traffic on those roads).
The ride used to go up Metcalf which is a BEAST - looks like this year it climbs to Henry Coe which I haven't done but has a good reputation as a leg burner.

Some of the connection roads between these features are sort of Bayway-esque suburban connectors, which are less prevalent on the Fondo.

Tierra Bella has ratcheted up to a whole $80 for the century. The Gran Fondo is now *295* bucks. Even the eastside/westside loop that we do as a lunch ride is $100. So Tierra Bella has a bit better price/performance. Levi and Carlos are letting under 24 ride for free and they do have a free supported 10 mile family ride.

I'll probably do one or the other but haven't decided - depends on if we want to go up to Sonoma County that weekend and what mileage/routing my wife and son think they can handle.
