Dear Session Buddy Developers,
After auto updating today, all my [Unnamed sessions] were gone. Only [Tabs] and [Collections] present now.
Is there a link for the old good v3, I need to name those [Unnamed Sessions] before updating.
Or is there a better way to fix this?

You might be looking for the new "History" section, where all auto-generated sessions have been moved. It's a button on the top right now.

Check the "History" tab

The previous unnamed sessions should be found on the right, as opposed to the left as with versions prior to v4.

Also, it seems that "History" sessions are being treated different than "Collection" sessions.

Hi Mark,
Hope you are doing great.

You can try below steps if that helps :-
1)  Under TABS -->  click on "This Browser"
2) Right side top you will see option History click on that , after that you will be able to see those unnamed Sessions.

But I am not able to find any option to search on those unnamed sessions , top search is only for collections.
Total Number of tabs open count option is also missing I think in the extension icon and in saved collection and unnamed sessions , I will check the settings once again.

on the right side there is the 'history' button that holds the old unnamed sessions.

It's in the History tab, top right. I genuinely hate it, you have to go through them one by one, you can't select multiple sessions in your history. And you have to click back to your current session to even access History. THe previous outline was fine, it worked, it was intuitive, the new History feature is useless and I'll be forced to remember to save every session or I'll forget them, why hide everything in a separate tab?

Thank you all for your reply! I found my sessions in [History]. I must say the new [History] feature was so unsatisfying. Actually, it's plain annoying!!
@Mischa L. : Yeah, I wholeheartedly agree with you! V4 completely ruined the feature that once worked perfectly in V3!

I had more than 500 unnamed sessions, and it only shows from 14th June 2023 now in the history section, the limit of 500 snapshots and duration of max 10 years needs to be increased, and the old ones (if still intact and preserved) need to be recovered and shown in the list such as from 2020 or so, new snapshots are slow, doesn't instantly save something if it crashes or closes browser like before the new update, new snapshots are eating away the older unnamed sessions. Please don't tell me that the beyond older and missing sessions are deleted and not recoverable and retrievable. Can't it possibly be dormant or hidden somewhere, like not deleted as soon as the extension was updated? The new version is making me beyond sad and frustrated, and I loved and still want to love this extension, yet I am faced with the grim possibility to lose all the precious archives I had used and preserved throughout the years.

Please, developer sir resolve and aid the needy, suffering and the endangered users like me. I plead you for assistance and solution.

Hi Aayan,

Just FYI, it's impossible for you to have had more than 500 Previous Sessions. The v4 retention defaults are aligned with v3 hardcoded limits.

That said, happy to consider adding a 100 years option.

> new snapshots are eating away the older unnamed sessions

You can adjust the snapshot cycle. We'll likely add an option to turn it off altogether.

I do believe old SQLite database is on the disk at the usual location.

Perhaps you should save it somewhere and re-add lost sessions into new version when situation stabilizes.

It is, it is openable with DB Browser for SQLite, where you can extract data if you're missing after v4
Personally, it's located on:
C:\Users\User\AppData\Local\BraveSoftware\Brave-Browser\User Data\Default\databases\chrome-extension_edacconmaakjimmfgnblocblbcdcpbko_0\116

That's not the first time I've heard about this:
> From what I remember from v3, using the largest settings essentially meant "infinite" and the settings were largely ignored.   But I could be wrong about this.

Can't test it since I've been using this chrome profile for less than 2 years, however there's already 250+ Previous Sessions in the SQL.

Please consider an option to increase both years and session limits.

No problem providing higher limits. This does increase the possibility of surprise though if data needs to be trimmed due to limited space. Unlikely, but something folks should be aware of.

> That's not the first time I've heard about this

Previous Sessions have always been capped at 500. The History defaults were intentionally chosen to align with SB v3 so nothing would get trimmed during data migration.

Saved Sessions, on the other hand, are not limited by SB.

Yep, this assumption is incorrect.

My sessions are also gone and there is no history. I've tried poking around in datatbases and sessions and so far no luck bringing them back. I had a lot of tabs stored I meant to go back through. All things considered I should come up with a new strategy for handling my tab addiction

I think the loss of autosaved data is the most terrible part of the update.

The current version mixed the history of a session and the recording of a previous session, but I don't think they are comparable. I am using the extension for saving my opened tabs every time when I close the chrome, it works well in the old versions, but the list of previously closed tabs is mixed with EVERYTHING in the history. Why don't we use the history option of chrome for THE HISTORY?

There are really so many people who need to keep unlimited numbers of autosaved sessions, it's also a very important feature that the current session could be autosaved when the browser is crushed as well as NORMALLY CLOSED.
