Open Climate Collabathon

Hi all,

We just had our weekly meeting for the Open Climate Collabathon initiative. If you're new to this, you can find more on the website, and you can find Sensporica's role in it here.

We are planning an event in November. If you are involved in climate-related projects or if you are passionate about the climate, this is YOUR chance to propose an activity or an event that you can organize on the Open Climate Collabathon stage in November.  

One idea that emerged during this meeting was to extend the centrally planned and organized event with an adjacent self-organized event, where anyone can propose something, whatever, people react to the idea, if it gets traction you have the stage, to be seen, to attract participation to your project, to make new connections, to play and have fun, etc.

You can propose to play a game online, to prototype something in a local lab, to invite people to watch a video and discuss around it, to have a panel discussion online / offline, a round table, a retreat, protest, ... or any other activity that involves people getting together around the general topic of tech and  climate change.

Please reply to this email if you think you can make something happen in November (have the passion, the time, the resources, a few people that can help...).

If the whole message in their webpage is about the idea of a regenerative society, should I suppose that they are not profits maximization oriented?

If it is the case, How do they prove it?

Yes, new financial systems are part of the discussion. Do you think that the people behind seeds would want to organize something at the next Open Climate Collabathin in November? We can brainstorm with them a format, a type of activity that benefits them and that stays within the larger topic.

I do not if I can ¨find the truth¨. As I told you before I just want to find people, companies and customers, that want to rid out from profits maximization, blind competition and want to unfold our relationships in order to make them transparent and ensure that everybody can add value and generate abundance.... we all know that the technology would allow us to achieve so.

I would love to hear from Christophe that ¨seed¨is not focused on profits, of course it would mean that they should show every single unit of money they receive and they spend (for covering the work and all the investment they have done, for sure everybody deserves a good living..... 

The companies or organizations not focused on money should´t have anything to hide.  Don´t you think so?

I signed up to SEEDS. I'll report back on my experience on another thread. 

Meanwhile, I think it is worth it contacting them to ask if they want to participate in the Open Climate Collabathon. On the surface they seam to be a good fit. 

Any other thoughts? Can anyone propose other potential contributors?

I am on the way to become an ambassador for SEEDS,
Let's say I am an apprentice ambassador :)

I am volunteering for Clean Planet (http://hive.blog/@cleanplanet), an org that is paying you to colect wastes, and Clean Planet will join the Collabathon.
I am expecting that several member of SEEDS will want to participate.
SEEDS is a decentralized organization on the telos blockchain, so there is really nobody to decide what SEEDS wants to do or not. Like all organizations, some people are more active and have more power than others. Proposal are voted after a full moon period ( 28 days)
Next week I will write a proposal to participate to the Collabathon.
I will be happy to include Sensorica in it, of course.
We can discuss this in the Discord channel above.

Thanks for answering.

I went to the links you gave us and I did not find what I expect from a ¨not for profit¨ organization...... (100% transparency and easy for everybody).

In general I do not answer in these forums because for me it is obvious that each one has his own agenda.... But as Tiberius said once,,,, sometimes the magic appears and we gather strength for a common purpose...

 It seems that this is not the case.... But I continue a little more in case more people want to join the project. 

This week I decided to do all the research to figure out if I open a little company here in Israel that will buy products for farmers, and sell frozen ready to eat plates. Nothing special, very simple, but it will be 100% transparent. the suppliers and cost of raw material will be on the web. All our sales will be on the web. We will have limits on profit.

Of course people just will buy if the product and price fit for them, people do not care if you make money or lose money....  But we will understand that if we are hundreds of companies sharing sales and purchase data, and making evident that their focus is not to maximize profits, we will achieve a new economical system.... like Open Data Economy..

But the real challenge now is to create the environment where this ¨first transparent food company¨ will be able to connect with customers, suppliers and community in general, and face achievements together.... In this case to improve the frozen food experience..... To help others ¨competitors¨ to open in other places (¨think global and produce locally¨) etc etc etc .. . For me this environment has to be something like Open Company Network... (but there are many ideas alike.... but we are not working together..Why Not? ..... I do not know why... ..)

 

Believe me that I have no problem with people that want to become millionaires in the current game. But I want to play the game of achieving commitment for  and from the community....

And at this moment, for all those organizations that aim ¨a better world¨ (in their webpage tell beautiful good desires),  I think it is crucial to make them ¨to show the money¨... Don´t you think so? 

I hope we will be millions of people that want to play this new game....

Hi Miguel,

I propose to keep this thread focused on the topic "Open Climate Collabathon". This is part of the collaborative ethics. Feel free to launch a new thread where we focus only on your project and where you can find people to collaborate with you.

Also know that being on Sensorica's communication channels only to do solicitations for projects that happen elsewhere, whatever they may be, is not well received, not only b people here, but also in any other collaborative community.

My advice is to balance contributions to the community with extraction.

I am not sure what needs to be open and what is closed for an organisation to survive and develop. A system must be partially open to develop itself and partially closed to keep its internal integrity. To my understanding, different context will define different patterns to follow. I would try and see what works and how at what particular conditions.

I thought of just sharing a concept of Conscious Economy relevant here:

I think we at the transfer stage from excavating to conscious economy, from unconscious competition for resources to conscious and therefore collaborative evolution. However, how namely that all to be organised will be defined by the acting collective subjects at every particular location.
