I've only made one such 'dictionary' years ago, when Stardict was
still alive. As far as I recall, one just created a text file with
headwords and definitions separated by tab, then ran stardict-editor,
and it did the rest automatically. But how to make a nontrivial
dictionary I don't know. And how this format interacts with diacritics
I also don't know.
Didn't find much on Google but couldn't devote a lot of time to
searching either, so would appreciate some help.

Thank you,
Irene

## Path 1
Make a babylon file (format described in https://sanskrit-coders.github.io/dictionaries/formats/ )

Then use some standard tool to convert to stardict.

## Path 2
Please share your dict as well - might be useful to others. A simple way by which you can do this, and let our scripts generate standard dicts automatically -

Send a pull request to https://github.com/indic-dict/stardict-sanskrit-kAvya with a path like irine-veda-dict/irine-veda-dict.babylon , formatted as in https://raw.githubusercontent.com/indic-dict/stardict-sanskrit-kAvya/master/rv-padasvara-dev/rv-padasvara-dev.babylon . When merged, stardict files will automatically be generated. You can then update the veda-dict.babylon file, and the subsequent stardict files will be updated automatically.
