Gene and Lisa,
This is great. The original email from Lisa did not make it to the SPA group
so thanks to Gene for posting it.
And thanks to Lisa, the mystery is solved.
Searching on
ancestry.com and Ellis Island, confirmed the information.
The surname was Fazzini. The brother mentioned in the article was Giuseppe.
The EI manifest showed the arrival of Andrea (Andrew) Fazzini on 16 Aug 1906 and
he was sadly killed in the mine accident less than 3 months later.
The findagrave memorial had some different information about the circumstances
of his death but this is surely him.
The EI manifest shows his last residence in Italy was Campli which is in the
province of Teramo as mentioned on findagrave.
Great detective work.
Mark

missed in Family Search and Find A Grave (Thanks Lisa!!). An Andreas/Andrea Fazzini
(without the "r") died at Perry Mine in West Virginia. The posting suggests his parents
were Pacifico Fazzini and Giuseppa DiBenedetto.

If Andrew is an assumed name, finding the correct Frazzini born about 1878 in the Ellis Island records would be difficult, to say the least. I couldn't find any Frazzini's in the 1900 census records from West Virginia that would match his age (he could have came to the US after 1900 or avoided the census). No Frazzini's show up in Holy Cross Cemetery in Find A Grave but the cemetery is only half mapped. You have found an interesting puzzle.
