Hi,

There are no Ubuntu 18.04 binaries for Sage 8.9 on the mirrors listed at http://www.sagemath.org/download-linux.html,
while there are binaries for Debian since September 30. Is there any issue in producing these binaries?
(having a look at http://build.sagemath.org/, it seems that Ubuntu builded are in "building" or " retry" state).
Can I help somehow?

Eric.

I just copied the Ubuntu 16.04 binaries. The buildbot was having some dns problems so the binaries are late.

May I ask about the Ubuntu 18.04 binaries?
Some users are complaining about the lack of them:
or are downloading the unique Ubuntu binary available (for 16.04) and are facing a crash since they are running Ubuntu 18.04:
Thanks for your help.

Eric.

In the same line, I wanted to ask if there are plans to resume Fedora binaries shipping. I find them really useful as the state of Sage in Fedora official repositories is often rather poor, not something I can rely on. Thx!

Hello,

sage installed from the packages ( sudo apt-get install sagemath)  is the version 8.1 and
not 9.x Is it normal? Is is possible to have the version 9.x from the terminal?

Thank you for your attention

Sagemath-9.0 installed from the package is in 20.04 (soon coming release
29-4 maybe), either you wait or you can try to install sage-9.0 from
binary on the website. I tried few times to installed it but didn't succeed.

If you want to try download the binary from sagemath website
decompressed it and run it (be careful because you can't change the dir
after having it ran !

Try to run sage in a shell and if you want to use jupyter notebook you
can make a link

sudo ln -s sage /usr/bin/sage

Then you can run it from anywhere (but without sudo !)

sudo ln -s sage /usr/local/bin/sage

will prevent it interfering with the sage installed from apt.
