Is this still active? I would love to to an actual meeting - even it were virtual.

I'm with you on that!
When CoViD19 hit lots of meetings, jam sessions, etc. dried up and I
haven't see them come back. However, if they do I'd attend!

I'm still active with Linux - running five systems and starting up two more. But I'm in Mina 170 miles away.

I'm currently learning enough Julia to use photomicrography to determine the minerals in rock sections and from surface samples. I'm also using Linux to control automatons.

Wish I knew the answer myself. With so many leaving Windows in October...

I no longer live in Reno but I still use Linux.  In fact, I'm into the homelab scene and have a server rack full of servers in my house.

I typically use Ubuntu or Fedora.  Haven't really played with many different distros, lately.

Hey all!  Nice to hear from many of you.

To add to Reggie’s comments, I have been a Linux Mint desktop user for over a decade.  I rarely distro hop anymore.  I have tried Pop!_OS and it is pretty cool with solid NVIDIA support, but Mint is still my daily driver when I am not using my Win11 work computer.

Server OS is still Debian or ubuntu for me, although I mostly use Alpine Linux for any container apps.

And like Reggie mentioned, I too have gone deep down the Home Lab path.

I daily drive Arch and I’m still in the Reno area. Administer a couple linux servers at work too.

Server-wise, I bounce between Ubuntu, Debian, and Rocky/Alma.

Debian FTW, although arch is awesome.

Hello,

I'm just a hobbyist, frustrated and infuriated with Windows. I have a laptop and desktop with Mint. But my crowning achievement was to install Ubuntu on a Microsoft Surface 2. Including the touchscreen. I was going to register with TMCC for their fall linux class but it was full.

Glad there's still interest here. Would love to get an actual meeting going!

Go the first day of class and just stay until they kick you out. Linux isn't super popular. You'll likely have someone drop.

Wow, we're still out there!
I had open heart surgery last Monday, but if someone can put
something together I'll try to attend,. If not, hang in there! I heal
up pretty quick and will do it myself.
The first two questions I have is Where and When? Regarding time: if
you're working, that limits your availability for this. So, I thought
a Saturday or Sunday might be best. As for the place, I don't think
anyone wants to be burdened with paying for a location. So, maybe a
Denny's or the like would suffice. Should I be able to make it, I'd
definitely arrive early and order food.
Whoever hosts needs ideas for both of those. You've seen my Denny's
recommendation (they have an actual separate meeting room). As for
time, I'm retired and could join most anytime. The earlier - the
better.
Now the rest of you should reply with your availability and site
suggestions. Go -
Don

Back when I organized for a different club, not RLUG, we use to use the meeting room at Total Wine on S. Virginia. It was free. But that was about twelve years ago.

Hope you heal up fast, Don!

Hello!
I would be in to meeting on a weekend day.
A Denny's Or similar place Reno would work just fine.
