Hi everyone,

I have been happily using my Orton 3C for almost 2 months now, and I suppose using it quite a lot.

I have noticed that the cycle switch is not as reliable as it was at the start when incrementing the current address. Sometimes I have to pull it more than once to go to the next address, sometimes pulling it skips two addresses.

I wonder what the cause of this might be, and what I can do to troubleshoot it?

Thanks,

James

Hello, just bumping this message, it's still an issue. I get the impression that the cycle switch always works perfectly when storing data to an address, but it is gammy when trying to change addresses, either not moving, or skipping one.

Hi James,

I'm really not sure what to recommend there. Whilst the other switches are generic Chinese ones, I chose a European manufactures one foe that switch as it felt so much nicer and reliable. I haven't had any issues with either of my machines, so it isn't something that I've had to debug. There are quite a few kits out in the wild now, so I wonder if anybody else has had any similar issues?

Hi all,

I've not noticed any problems with mine, but I'm not using it
everyday. I guess you've already checked the solder connections and
that there isn't a dry solder joint there?

Cheers

Rob

Are you able to put a scope on the wait input to the z80?

Karen was using some tricky logic circuit using resistor and diode and there is also a capacitor on the wait input. Its possible the capacitor is slowing the response to the cycle switching. You could try removing the capacitor or using a smaller value.
