I'd love a thread that could end up with a list of models and the year they were introduced (and last year produced if no longer).  Don't feel like we've done that before.  (If so, just point me to the thread...)

Here's fodder...

There was a Riv mountain bike at the same time as the original road and AR models.

Bleriot: I would list it as 2006-2008. The Riv Reader announcement was in 2006, the announcement to cancel the model was in 2008' according to articles that I've saved. Thanks for this project, it's fun and should produce some interesting information.

Anyone interested in maybe making it like an online spreadsheet or something? I have the reader archive I'd be willing to flip through this weekend and help fill in some of the dates. I know the Riv road/mountain/all-rounder were in the line-up from the very beginning in '94, at least. They were listed in Reader 0 even.

I'm happy to make a spread sheet.  Projects like these are a fun distraction from my actual work.  When introduced and retired would be cool.  I think I can make an fun flow chart.

Howdy folks.

I aluded to this in my post yesterday, but the original Rivendells, the Road Standard,  were spec built by Waterford.  I don't think they were "custom" at all the first few years, same goes for the original All 'Rounder, mountainbike (might have only been Waterford)and possibly LongLow.  At some point you could customize, and production shifted to Joe Starck and then match.  The Heron and Heron Touring were before any of the Toyo built models and were again made by Waterford.  I am sure some other old timers or scribes who want to delve through the old Readers can flesh that out more, but I am pretty sure that chronology is correct.

Regards, Doug

My second-hand Bombadil has a Waterford build date of Oct. 2008 and I believe it was one of the first batch. I think they started shipping in Nov. 2008.

We've done this a couple of times before, but not recently.  Here's a thread from 2011:

This was prompted by some neat work done by lister Marty culling together a poster with one picture of every model/variation of Riv up to that point, then another with their headbages:

My Waterford Road (Reynolds 753) is 1995. It has a level TT and standard HT. I think the Road Standard followed in 1996 with a sloped TT and extended HT.

Very nice!

So 2004 was a "year that changed everything." That year brought:

- Full commitment to 650B by making frames for it
- The country bike (splitting difference between Atantis-tourer and "Road")
- Bikes made for centerpulls or extra-long clearance sidepulls (even though the Tektros and Silvers were still a couple years away)
- Commitment to good step-through frames

The company that was already synonymous with the term All-Rounder took that spirit a couple steps further in 2004. Closely related to that, Fun was on the grow too. Quickbeam!

My Road Standard is a '97 Waterford build (753), and it has an extended HT.  I can't tell if it has a sloped TT (the picture isn't level), but it was only 2 degrees, right?
It has a great ride as a 650b conversion, but the BB is pretty low now.

The Bleriot was initially conceived as a travel bike. I assume this explains the airplane theme and name. This is way back in about 2001-2002 I am guessing. It was one or two lines in the reader.

I don't recall that. I just read through all of them this summer, and I don't remember anything about it before the introduction in Reader 37 (2006), when Grant said earlier that year or late in 2005 he approached QBP about doing a Taiwan direct-to-dealers 650b bike based off the Saluki...

I just went down in the man-cave and found my receipts. A first batch, green Quickbeam was delivered June2004. One of the late original Legolas (that had been for sale on the website for awhile) was delivered Aug2009.

There are a number of models needing to be added. Rosco Bubbe, for example. Perhaps we can document which RR or blog entry 1st announced and when they were produced. Atlantis should really be split into the original Toyo/Waterford design and the current Taiwan (Maxway?) design.  They are really different bikes sharing a paint scheme.
