double top tube exploitation

Hi, all.

I think I’ve made a good use of my lower top tube. I put shifters on it.

For years I’ve been wondering how this would work out. Finally got around to doing it. Turns out it’s okay. Better than downtube; almost as good as stem. It allows me to set up a new handlebar/cockpit incrementally.

I suspect one could do this on a single top tube. But this way there’s no interference with the brake cabling. Nor with the straddler’s more vulnerable areas.

I don’t plan to use this shifter configuration long term. The da Vinci connectors (one’s visible under the “H” on the downtube) and the hinged clamp (Dixna) on the lower top tube make it easily removable.

Thomas, thanks for sharing, I was unaware of the Dixna shifter clamp, big fan of stem shifters and most of the 1 1/8” clamps are not as nice as the Dixna.

Though I still prefer indexed shifting, I do enjoy the silver shifters quite a bit. My preference, once at least 65/35, is now ~51/49. I suspect soon my journey to the friction side will be complete. Friction shifters are a little easier to set up. And the silvers do feel wonderful.
