All,

Back forever ago when I first mounted a front basket to my Saluki, then CB-0 (x4), then… well basically every bike I have had was improved by adding an easy access front bag inside a basket. I still have a wald medium with green shopsack in it.

Is there a Brompton bag that replicates this? Do I need to get a custom rack made and zip tie a basket to it? Anyone want to earn some money modifying a rack to allow a bolted on front carrier block catch?

Goal - fit a full size grocery bag, full of odd shaped stuff that make the sides stick out here and there, into a bike mounted object. What are my options?

Cheers
Jason

The Brompton folding basket bag is my most used Brompton bag by far. I have the older design and it swallows a lot of groceries including odd shaped items.

I may splurge for the new model since I do like that it has a zippered pocket on the outside.

I'd love to find something like the Brompton Touring Bag which seems to have disappeared?

As a Brompton owner, I'd agree that the folding basket is the most flexible way to go for carrying loads. I regularly stuff mine with very full grocery bags or all the things for an afternoon by the river and it accommodates a surprising amount. Mine is probably about 7 years old and has been really durable.

Phillip, I think this bag has replaced the T-bag: https://www.clevercycles.com/brompton-borough-roll-top-bag-grey.html

Ooh that Brompton kit is lovely but they want a pretty price for it don't they?

Today I found a single Ortleib pannier on FB Marketplace & remembered watching a YouTube where one of these was modified to fit a Brompton front rack. A bit of hole drilling and strut repositioning on the bag combined with an Aliexpress rack got me this for less than $75 all in!

wow, great job, you basically got an O-bag for a lot less.

i have an O-bag from a few years ago (got it on close out, so didnt pay the crazy prices), and the only difference from yours is that the frame is internal to the bag, so i think you did good here!

Oh, nice job on that bag Philip! Brompton stuff can be super pricey, which is a bummer. I ended up making my own version of a T-bag, using this pattern, for about $50 worth of materials.

Good job on that bag! Brompton bags are somewhat expensive but I have found them to be extremely durable. I have the folding basket, a C bag and a T bag and all are still in perfect condition after a lot of use. My folding basket has been used a few times a week for the last six years or so.
