Don Wallace, W6AM demonstrating his directional arrays. On the air since
1910, commercial and amateur licenses, member Society of Wireless
Pioneers. Operated spark and continuous wave. He used to operate from
his Buick with his Vibroplex splayed across the front bench seat as
shown in the photo . Flawless Morse a pleasure to speak to. I worked him
as he went over the Tobin Bridge in Boston. He never missed a dot.
Member of First Class CW Club. He purchased the Mackay Radio Palos
Verdes transmitter site in 1945. It became the Wallace Ranch.

He also had a 300 watt FM mobile station in his Buick, he could hold the
Boston repeaters past the New Hampshire border.

Got this book some years ago from the ARRL. Did a bit of
checking and you still might find it using an online search.
Printed on 1st class glossy paper with many photos. The narrative
is also very good. Book is 288 pages. Well worth having.
Have read mine cover to cover at least 3 times.

No doubt about it, a rip off, but this is a 2nd party seller (allowable by Amazon) using Amazon to market a copy of the book. I paid $30 for it thru ARRL but that was when they had it in stock. He's hoping a daddy warbucks will want it so bad he'll pay.

Maybe eBay or some other 2nd hand bookstore might have it at a more reasonable price.

I remember when hams use to boast how far they can communicate on one watt of power.
I don't remember seeing anyone mentioning it here? How about you fellars doing a little boasting?

This business of using "digital modes" such as FT8 to ,"make contacts"  with far-off places is goofy to begin with.  Using computers to do the work aint " radio operating". And all th Ed y are doing i a swapping callsigns. The "signal reports" are totally bogus .

Much different if you actually "work" a far-off station using manually sent Morse and receiving by ear, putting down accurate legible copy on paper with a stick or mill.....and moving real written message traffic of some kind.  THAT  is "Radio Operating" 
Too few "Hams" can even do this anymore.....Sad...

Have always looked at it this way. There is the science of communication and there is also the art of communicating. The two are obviously not the same. It was sad to see morse code abandoned for amateur licensing.
