Hi All,

Anyone here that has done some (Paradox) alarm integration with a Raspberry Pi?

I'm able to "listen" to the alarm messages coming from my prt3 module connected with a USB cable to the Pi.

I also found some Python code to interpret the messages and talk back to the alarm. However, I would prefer to do this in JavaScript so I only have to learn one language. It probably also would make it easier to integrate with my QSUSB.

Regards

Paul

Hi Paul
I will be moving into a home with a full high end paradox system soon.
I will set up a PI with my QSUSB attached and work on it.
Hopefully get the Homebridge with siri working on it.

Here is a Python middleware solution that works with MQTT, which works on RasPi.

Morning

I have arduino / ESP8266 code for controlling and listening to a MG5050, not tested on any other paradox as yet, but sure be simular (Direct onto the paradox  bus, no serial/usb ip interface needed ).
I also have Basic (yes Basic) code to work on a Barionet 100 via Usb interface. (listening only)

The Esp8266 code for listening you can get from : https://github.com/liaan/paradox_esp8266, just use a resistor voltage divider to connect to 12v bus

Drop me email if you want to test the Arduino controlling code, not uploaded it a yet and not ported to esp8266. no time yet.

I know you asked for Java, but you welcome to port it.

Thanks Jean, a colleague at work also pointed me to his project.

I don't like the IP100/150 approach as it means that you cannot use the phone app to get in as it only allows one connection. I sent him some code that might hopefully allow him to fix this.

Thanks Karman,

When you say direct, is that even without the 307USB connector? I.e. do I have to build a special cable or will your code also support the 307USB cable?

This to me would be better than using the IP100/150. From what I understand they are going to expand the IP100/150 code here (https://github.com/jasonhector) to also allow serial interfacing but in both directions.

Is the github project you linked to yours? If so, I'll email you there to get a copy of the arduino code to have a look. I might be able to borrow an arduino for a while.

At the moment my quickest start looks to be here (https://github.com/cb22/paradox2) if I want to pursue the PRT3 interface.

Regards
Paul

Interesting approach! How do you linkup the esp8266 to rhe Paradox?

if you only want to read the buss, simple voltage divider (2 resistors). If you want to control it, I use a cheap level shifter from ebay, they rated online for 5v, but works fine up to 40v so perfect for the 12v bus.

Hi guys
I am not a techy or engineer. I am playing around with RPi for home automation. I have a paradox alarm system, and are also interested in integrating RPi with paradox alarm system.
Where do I start? Can someone point me to some resources to understand the integration? Again I am not an electrical or electronics techy, but I programmer.

Hi Karman

I am particularly interested in your MG5050 interface as I have been trying to interface to the board for some time now with limited success. Are you able to send me your arduino code please. Also I am a little confused about how you are listening to the MG5050.....is this only listening for wifi connected alarm devices or does the board communicate all alarm information via wifi (and picked up on your ESP8266). Any help you can give me is appreciated.....I even started going down the road of trying to pick up state changes off the PGM modules as my other methods were failing.

Hi,

Arduino code is on github as well, will try find link when back in office, but just go repo home, you should find it there

The arduino connects via level shift board direct to the alarm bus using same wires as the keypad. Then it basically mimics the keypad. So all zone statuses etc is read from bus and then you can do with it what you want. The bus is not encrypted so easy to read all info. The esp. ode is read only, arduino is send/receive so you can arm/disarm etc
