New installer for QMP 4.

This installer will download and install the latest QMP, ViGEmBus and HIDHide programs.

The QMP version (4.01.0) is essentially the same as 4.0.07, no new features yet, but this will fully install the QMP program so the user does not need to set up their own shortcut.

It also will optionally download and install ViGEmBus and HIDHide, which are used for emulating XBox and PlayStation controllers for Remote Play programs.   A future version of QMP will manage the HIDHide settings to automatically prevent games from being confused by the native Quadstick Direct Input controller when ViGEmBus emulates an XBox controller.

Both the installer EXE and the Quadstick EXE programs are digitally signed with an Extended Validation certificate, so there should no longer be problems with security warnings when downloading and running the programs.

Great job Fred. I have questions about the upgrade path, however, as I have those products installed individually from the previous version of QMP. What kind of cleanup needs to be done?

"those products"  What products?   If you are referring to the Vocola package, that does not change.  It will remain a separate installation.

QMP 4 no longer supports the CronusMax Plus/Titan 1 PCPROG connection, which very few people used, but if you do, stay with QMP 3.09, or use Cronus Pro and X-Aim to drive the PCPROG port on the CronusMax Plus.

QMP itself is a single file that overwrites the previous version's file, if they are installed to the same folder.  There is no clean up.   As far as ViGEmBus and HIDHide go, if you already have them installed, no need to install them again.  They keep themselves up to date.

If you want to keep both QMP versions, install to a different directory.  The last one installed will become the default one associated with QMP files and the start menu/desktop icon shortcuts.

If you have a shortcut to QMP4.0.07, just delete it.   There are no new features in this new release.

Okay, and answered my question. I had ViGEmBus and HIDHide installed separately, and I was afraid to upgrade because I didn't know how to manage the other installs, it sounds like this is clean, and I just use a separate directory. Thanks.

I was using this new version to upload a profile and failed. Other than that I really like this new QMP.

I think you have two instances of QMP running at the same time.

The easiest fix is to reboot.

Did it, but still got an error, I double checked my profile and didnt see anything wrong.

What command did you issue when you got that error?  I was able to add your config to my user list on the right then download it to the quadstick.

Your spreadsheet is OK.

Try to make the error happen again and then send in a debugging report.  I'll bet the report will pinpoint where the error is.

How to send in a debugging report with QMP:

1. Plug the Quadstick into the PC
2. Start QMP
3. Wait 20 seconds
4. Perform the operation that is giving you trouble.
5. Click in the Transcript pane at the bottom of the window.
   
6. Press F1 key
7. Answer prompt to send in the debugging report
8. EXIT QMP.  Ignore any error message.
   
9. Send me an email so I know to go look for the report.

I found the errors.  I just posted an update.  You can re-run the installer and it will update the program to 4.02.2

There were two problems with handling *.QMP files:  If QMP was already running, there was one problem, then if QMP wasn't already running, there was a different problem.   That's why those error messages were slightly different.

 If you separately added a spreadsheet by dragging and dropping, or using the Add Game to User List button, then clicked on Download the Quadstick, everything worked ok.

Thanks for finding those bugs, that really helps.   When I turn on the notification of a new version of QMP to everyone still on 3.09, it would be nice to not have a ton of bug reports.

Where can i get the  4.02.2 installer? The Link at the top just downloads qmp 4.02.0 ... + the qs-website is not updated yet ^^

Just rerun the installer.  It will always install the most recent version.

Are you saying that it will be able have the Quadstick connect to xbox and Playstation eventually using  ViGEmBus and HIDHide? If not, what is meant by  Remote Play programs    Does it even pay to install  ViGEmBus or HIDHide at that point?

Both ViGEmBus and remote play programs are required for PS5/XBox remote play.   HIDHide is not required for remote play programs.  It is for older PC games if the game responds to both the native Quadstick and the virtual XBox controller.
