Hello,

I'm wondering if anyone has any experience with the Epson L1505UNL projector. I spoke to a rep at a trade show recently, said it's Artnet control extends to almost all the functions of the projector, but I can't find any documentation about that anywhere. Does anyone know? I'm looking at purchasing one soon.

Thanks,
Alexander

Hi Alex,

Yes, I recently had a 1505 on a show and I am about to have it on another. The artnet control does cover most functions but at the moment it does not allow you to change to shutter fade in/out time. Other than that, shutter open/close and power on/off all work as expected. The ability to adjust the fading shutter time is coming in a firmware update so I have been told. The manual on the website doesn't really have any information on this. You will find more info like the artnet channel profile in this manual.

Great, thanks for the info. This looks very promising.

Thanks again,
Alexander

the only thing is that the adjustment commands are very weird (for zoom, focus, etc...) I'm not really sure what they do - I had expected you'd get 0-255 for positioning, but it seems like you are getting the equivalent of  different length button presses?  It probably doesn't matter because you can save lens presets in the projector and recall them via dmx, so that's probably all that's needed to automatically go between, say a downstage screen and an upstage cyc....

Ye this is often the case on projectors. It just emulates remote button presses. An encoded motor for all lens functions would be great but the market is probably quite slim!

The thing is, the motor is already encoded. It can recall memory presets...

Fingers crossed that Epson or Panasonic will join up the dots.
