Hey Everybody,

I finally updated straight from Sierra to Mojave on both my playback machines.  I felt safe enough that Dante Controller and DVS would work fine and they both do.  Anyway, first time I broke out my Qwidget box and it does not seem to function.  It receives power, but has no control over a QLab list.  No updates on the Widgeteering Studios website, but I've sent in a support email.

Anyone else encounter this?  Or does anybody else's work totally fine?

Thanks

I did not have a problem with the Widgets on the new machines, but am using them in MIDI mode.
MIDI mode seems more reliable to me, but it does control every open workspace whereas the QLab specific mode only controls the active/top workspace.

How about after re-loading the Qlab specific driver 1.41?

I thought Wigiteering stopped supporting the qlab firmware. I was pretty sure that they suggested using it in midi mode only but it looks like they are back to supporting QLab Mode on their website. I also find midi mode more user friendly mostly because you can choose what the buttons do within qlab. I switched to midi mode when I discovered the aforementioned notice on their website after encountering a similar problem with the remote ceasing to function properly after an update. I’m glad I did switch it to midi. Give it a shot, you might like it!

If you are looking for an alternative, Teamsound has several midi trigger boxes that are excellent, all called the Go Box. I’ve purchased several for various purposes and they’ve been very reliable.

The Go Boxes look really good.

I'm curious if anyone has tested the wireless one VS the D*san PerfectCue for reliability at a distance?

I know they are kind of different products - the Go Boxes sending Midi VS the PerfectCue sending keystrokes (and therefore requiring the QLab workspace to have focus to receive them) but I've had great results with a PerfectCue with custom keymaping that I programed triggering Qlab for control by talent from the stage....

Sam here of both Figure 53 and Team Sound, speaking for Team Sound at the moment.

I’ve used the Perfect Cue from D*san and it’s unquestionably rock solid. No complaints.

I’ve tested the Go Box Rover up to 450 feet in open air, and my results were:
- up to 250 feet, zero dropouts.
- up to 300 feet, < 1% dropouts.
- between 300 and 400, slowly increasing dropout percentage.
- by 450, essentially 100% dropout.

I also have a report from one customer that the Rover worked vertically from the second story of a building into the basement. The building was older and the floors were wood construction only, I believe. Mass is the biggest signal strength killer.
