hi Guys . I started working at a small post production facility where the main 3d app is 3d max. For that reason Max artists don't like
to have Maya directories in the project folder. i have altered the workspace creation to match the names of the max structure they have. But Maya creates some folders extra when you paint maps, paint fx etc. which caused major discussions here.

main question that in the end arise:
for those here who work on mixed pipelines, do maya artists use the default maya workspace structure or use custom?and why?

thanks for the help
cheers
Ricardo

I've commonly seen a folder for each app. "maya", "max","lw","c4d", etc. The application can then have all the support folders it needs under each app folder. Maya does not always respect the workspace.mel, so you may indeed need to keep some default folders.

Customize the workspace.mel as much as you can, but then sweep it under the rug by containing the workspace to its own folder.

Good luck,
jesse
