I want to look into creating a PTGui plugin for Lightroom, to simplify the process of loading the images into PTGui and importing the resulting panorama back into Lightroom.

AFAIK, there is nothing like this available. Correct?

There is a "PTGui" entry in "Photo -> Edit in", but this is not what I want since 1) it creates TIF files for the individual images as part of the catalog, and 2) you still need to manually locate and import the panorama.

It seems that PTGui accepts a list of file names representing the source images as command line parameters. Very good. Is there also a way to tell PTGui by invokation  the file name of the panorama and where to put it? (i.e. as predefined string in the Output file entry field)

Is there an overview of the PTGui command line options?
I couldn't find anything, nowhere.

Thanks.

Hi Karsten,

Command line options are limited to these two cases:
- start a new project file: pass the image files on the command line:
PTGui.exe img1.jpg img2.jpg etc

- or stitch an existing project file. See 6.32:
https://www.ptgui.com/support.html#6_32

So it's not possible to change the output file name from the command
line, I'm sorry.

Kind regards,

Hi Joos,

what a pity - thank you nevertheless for letting me know.

Anyway, I have noticed that PTGui proposes a panorama file name and location specific to input files given.
It seems to me that this is derived from the file that comes first in ascending file name sort order.
The location of this file is also proposed for the panorama file.

Example:
For PTGui command line invokation

ptgui  dir1/p.tif  dir1/q.tif  dir2/a.tif  dir1/b.tif

the proposed panorama file name would be "dir2/a panorama.tif".

Can you confirm that this the logic behind?

Many thanks
Karsten

Yes, that's the default. It can be overridden though, if you change it
in the Project Settings and do File - Make Default.

Also keep in mind that PTGui sorts image files containing numbers in a
'smarter' way:
img3.jpg comes before img10.jpg
A pure alphabetical sort would have img10.jpg first in the list.
