Hi,
I'd like to run PTGui on an AWS machine.
For this, I'd like to:
- Launch a new Linux machine,
- Register the software with my key
- Run the  software from a command line using a project template
- Shut down the machine
- Launch again whenever needed

The one unknown part I have is how to register with my key in this scenario.
Would appreciate your guidance.

Hi Yariv,

You can of course activate PTGui and deactivate by running it as a GUI
application (via VNC for example).

Activation can be automated by placing a licensekey.json file (see 2.10:
https://www.ptgui.com/support.html#2_10). Under Linux this should be
placed in /etc/PTGui/licensekey.json

But deactivation can currently be done from the GUI only. Also there's
an issue in the current beta, the application requires a valid X
$DISPLAY even when run with the -stitchnogui flag.

In other words, you cannot automate this currently, I'm sorry.

Kind regards,

Hi,

Following up on this question from Yariv.
We'd really like to deploy your software on a Linux machine in AWS and trying to figure out how to handle the license as described above.
Any update regarding the ability to remove activation without using GUI? Is there any API call we can use?

Thanks,
Amir Shenhav

Hi Amir,

I'm sorry, it is still the same. Activation can be automated but
deactivation is manual.

+1 for getting a scripted set-up for AWS / cloud machines to return the key on close
