Wim:
Thanks for the concern, but as Joost said, the Great Magnet intervened
and didn't allow John's or my posts to go through, so when Joost fixed
them, the order was messed. As John said earlier, his first URL didn't
work at all because of missing characters. That was the one I
responded to initially, When he re-posted the correction, I loaded the
pano and everything worked just fine. Nice shot as well.
I had a long conversation with Apple Level 2 tech support yesterday
regarding my search for an app/program that will display interactive
panoramic images from within the iPad device, not browsing to an
Internet URL on a WiFi or 3G wave. What prompted this call was the
revelation that my iPad---and Mobile Safari---are incapable of
displaying a QTVR file. I was trying to see a pano file I had uploaded
for a client's review, but when the address was entered I got nothing
but a blank screen. Apple says Mobile Safari does not have the extra
code or plug-in capabilities that the every-day standard program has
living on one's Mac. This may be something that is addressed in the
forthcoming iOS5, but nothing is guaranteed.
Following suggestions made by a number of you folks a month or so ago
when I first asked about iPad and interactive display, I did find
"iPano," an app that doesn't do half bad. It's a bit squirrelly and
the interface can be a bother, but it looks like this is the only game
in town right now for someone like me who wants to load the pix in the
machine and have them there whenever I want, Internet connection or
not.
