Lightroom integration is not great

The way the Lightroom integration works now ("Edit in...") if I select 20 raw files for an HDR pano, PTGui creates 20 TIFF images in my Lightroom catalog and then launches PTGui. It works, but all of those temp files are annoying and have to be deleted manually.

There is a better way. Rather than using "Edit in..." as the integration point, may I suggest that you use the "Export..." method instead? With this method, Lightroom creates the TIFF files, but they aren't imported into the catalog -- they are just temp files. Both Zerene Stacker (which can create hundreds of TIFF files at a time) and Nik HDR Effects use this method and it is much better for programs that require access to multiple photos.

Hi Josh,

Yes an actual export plugin is on the wish list, you're not the first to
ask for this. We're talking about Lightroom Classic, correct?

Kind regards,

Hi Joost,

Yes, Lightroom Classic.

I also wanted to add more information here in case it's helpful.

Zerene Stacker uses the "Export" approach as I mentioned. But it requires a manual Library->Sync operation to actually pull the stacked photo into Lightroom Classic. I'm talking to them about that.

Nike HDR Efex is the best integration I've seen, but it isn't perfect either. It does automatically import the final image into Lightroom Classic, but for some reason I lose my place in Lightroom -- the "focus" changes to a Collection that Nik has created in Lightroom Classic. I have to manually find the folder I was in when I started the HDR process and navigate back to it. When I do, I see that that final HDR is there in the proper place. I don't know why they create the collection -- I haven't checked yet to see whether it's an option I can turn off.
