Hello I am looking into purchasing PTGui for the purpose of batch converting panoramic pictures into SWF and than embedding them into PDF's. I have tried to do the process multiple times but every time i try to embed the SWF into the PDF i get an error.

"No panorama file is given. Include a 'pano' variable. Error#2152"

- Does PTGui embed the images within the SWF?

I also tried out Pano2VR and it seems to create a JScript loader file, which is missing from the PTGui SWF export.

- Is there a feature option that creates a JScript file to allow embedding into PDF'?

PTGuiViewer.swf does not embed the source images. The images are
downloaded from internet. Hence the error message: the viewer needs to
know the URL of the source images.

In other words I don't think the PTGui viewer supports what you are
trying to do, I'm not aware of any way to embed panoramas in a pdf.

you should try to use pano2vr where it's possible to embed all cubefaces into the swf file.
you can even produce tours with hotspots and a user interface.

I don't remember how they were embedded but I do remember that using GoodReader was a good way of packaging panoramas for convenient viewing (GoodReader is a very fine program that works miracles with PDFs). Perhaps someone can recall how it was done?

Hi,

PTGui is superb for producing stitched panorama content. It can also
generate ready-to-use (for web viewing) output, but it's very common to
use a separate application such as Pano2VR or KRPano to convert PTGui's
output into custom-built web productions.

Separately, SWF panoramas are pretty much deprecated these days, in
favour of HTML5-based ones.

But, more to the point, I don't think it's possible to embed an
interactive panorama in a PDF. You can embed a link to a web-based
version, and you can embed a still image of the pano (which could itself
be the link to the interactive version) but I would be extremely
surprised if there was a way – reliable or otherwise – to do this
with any software.

What are you hoping to end up with? Perhaps we can come up with other
more workable suggestions?

Works here, but I believe that needs an installed flash player. Flash
isn't popular any more nowadays and hence not present on any computer.

BTW.: Many people are reading this forum via email and get every post

The purpose behind this is to be able to produce standalone PDF's like the one attached. It is important to have these in offline mode as well, hence the need of embedding the panorama.

In the attached PDF if you select the company logo it brings up a sample panoramic image that is embedded. I was hoping to be able to reproduce this with the PTGui software as i would like to have zoom capabilities as well.

Sorry i duplicated post, i couldn't figure out how to edit previous post.

Thank you for the help,
Kris

It is (since ages). Pano2VR even has a tutorial:

I have been told by former coworkers that they where able to utilise PTGui specifically and embed into a PDF. That is the reason i am going with this software.

Hi Kris,

Perhaps they used PTGui for stitching the panorama, but I'm quite
certain that embedding the panorama in the pdf is not possible with the
PTGui Viewer. Perhaps they used pano2vr for that.

Keep in mind that this will almost certainly be broken within a year or
two, when most computers no longer support swf files.
