Stitch 3 VR180 images in 1 360VR images ?

Hello,

Could you tell me if PTGui process only flat images or accept VR180 images (already processed) ?
I 'll plan to buy a new stereoscopic lens of CANON that produce (with a light post production) VR180 image (https://fr.canon.be/lenses/rf-5-2mm-f2-8l-dual-fisheye-lens/).
I am looking for a software solution to build high quality 360 Virtual Tour for Real Estate business.
Do you think PTGui is the answer?

Hi Olivier,

PTGui cannot stitch stereoscopic source images if that is what you mean.

People are using PTGui to stitch stereoscopic panoramas, but this is not
a straightforward process and it would involve using the individual
left/right fisheye images from the source image produced by this lens.

You should be able to make good stereo panoramas from pairs shot with the new Canon lens.  But I would recommend you shoot 6-around and apply a 90x180 sector mask to each image.  This video shows how to use PTGui to make such masks.  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xk9nrkS4p0Q&t=4s  

The crucial steps are the same for single and multiple patches per image.  It is a purely manual process, do not run "align images". Assign separate global lenses to the left and right image groups; generate control points separately for each group, using a mask to limit the CPs to the overlaps of adjacent images; add some horizontal line CPs near equator between a few left-right pairs; add a single normal CP between one left-right pair, on the ground not far from nadir;  enable "single pass" processing of line CPs before optimizing; stitch left and right groups separately.

For even better results you could  load each image twice, apply overlapping partial sector masks to isolate the lower 1/3 and upper 2/3, and use 4 separate lens profiles.

It would certainly be simplest to separate the paired images first, however you could also load each pair twice and use PTGui's crop circle to isolate the images. You would still need to put a centered sector mask over each part.  I have no idea if this would work but it might be worth a try.
