I have been lightening my exposures in Photoshop ACR (Adobe Camera Raw) prior to stitching.

But when I pull them into PT Gui afind that the exposure has darkened considerably from the files ingested.

I have unchecked the box for Perform Automatic Exposure and Colour Adjustment in the Project Settings.

Any thoughts as to solution?

Hi Hugh,

Are you loading the raw files in PTGui? Or are you converting them to
TIFF in ACR and load the TIFFs in PTGui?

If it's the former (loading the RAWs): this is the expected behavior.
ACR doesn't actually modify the raw files when you adjust the exposure.
It just changes some metadata. This metadata is specific to the
algorithms in ACR, so PTGui cannot read it.

You can tell PTGui to boost the exposure using the Post Processing tab
in the Panorama Editor window.

Kind regards,

Joost Nieuwenhuijse

Hey Mate.

Loading stacked TIFFs into PTG with vignetting and green colour noise corrections only in ACR beforehand.

But even when I do the exposure adjustments to the stacked files they are not carrying across into PTG.

But definitely want the changes made pre PTG to carry through.

Cheers.  Hugh.

You might have images with different exposures mixed into the same
project. If Exposure Compensation is enabled, PTGui will brighten the
darkest exposure and darken the brightest exposures to get them on the
same exposure level. This might be what you are seeing.

Try disabling Exposure Compensation in the Blending tab in the Panorama
Editor.

All exact same exposures mate. Exposure compensation already unchecked in blending. 13 seconds every single one of the 100 or so images.

So if you load a single one of your TIFF files in PTGui, it is showing
darker than when you load the same image in another application?

I loaded say ten stacked images of 10 frames each and they mirrored the original raw frame exposures - about two stops less than- rather than the corrected exposures. So significantly darker than what i loaded.

Hey Mate

Yeah, that's correct.

See attached two screen shots - one from Bridge and then other from PTG.

I think you mentioned at some point in our interactions that I can lighten in PTG.  That doesn't work for me because I'm usually stitching multiple row panos - sometimes three rows - and they are blends between dusk and then the night sky.  So PTG, other than doing the stitch, can't handle the exposure differential.  Which is not a problem as I have a good workaround.

The main issue is the winding back of the exposures on already adjusted images to what they were originally shot at.  See attached.

Cheers.  Hugh.

Hi Hiugh,

Can you load just one of your tiff files in a new PTGui project? Is it
just as dark?

Kind regards,

The small Adjusted-Icon top right of each image suggests, that
you processed those TIFFs in Camera Raw. If yes, Bridge will show the
brightness as adjusted there, not the brightness all non-Adobe-programs
will show. To get them with the correct brightness into PTG you will
need to save them from ACR.

Hi Joost

Yeah, when I load a single image into PTG it is loading it as originally shot and not as adjusted.

Re Erik's message...

Okay, that makes sense.  I will try that next 36 hours and revert back.

Thanks for your help.

Cheers.  Hugh.
