A gap in my 360 equirectangular output file at the edges

Hello all:

I make significant use of PTGui and have done for years. Marvelous program!

At the moment I'm having a fluke wherein it seems ptgui output is slightly less than 360 resulting in a gap in the output file that is consistent with the left and right edge in the flat file. The left and right edges do not happen to fall at a stitch point. To be sure the details in the "gap" exist, I put PTGui Detail Viewer at the point and it shows the "missing" detail (see screen grab attached showing detail viewer and output file as seen in PTGui viewer). So the problem seems to be with the output process.

This gap is widest at eye level and narrows up and down. I've noticed at top just after the open-seam closes there is a block dot that is not in the image (see second attachment). Don't know if that offers a clue.

I haven't encountered this before. All of my 360 equi's seam-up correctly at the left and right edge. Suggestions?

Hi Colin,

Could you check if the image has 2:1 dimension?
Also, in the Panorama Editor, Projection sidebar, it should say 360 x
180 degree equirectangular.

Very interesting: Before I posted I looked to confirm it was 360x180. It did pass through my mind 360 might be a rounded-digit but I know the program shows a few decimal places so presumed it was true.

However given you pointed in that direction I looked again. Still said 360x180 but I went in and typed "360" manually. Problem solved!

I presume it was 359.999992 or such and was rounding-up.

Maybe a bug fix would be to have that digit always round-down but never round-up. In that case it would have said 359.99 and I would have caught that.

Colin, Safest thing to do is to always set the projection (when necessary) to "Spherical 360° x 180° Equirectangular" from the Projection menu on the Panorama Editor window toolbar.  Why this option is not also offered on the Projection menu on the side bar is not clear.
