Hi all,

I just have a few questions on latest Protools on Mojave.
I listened to the old Protools with speech tutorial some while ago, will I still have to do all settings suggested in there in order for the best experience with Protools?
And at last, is step recording accessible?
Many thanks and best regards,
Christian

Hi Christian,

While Pro Tools has always had requirements for certain settings in the operating system, those things can change from OS to OS. Pro Tools With Speech was created several operating systems before Mojave so there will be some things specific to Mojave and other things that have always applied. The thing to do is to follow the installation instructions in the Intro to Pro Tools PDF. That will always be the best thing to do. Equally effective would be to do a Google search to find an avid article on system optimization for Mojave (or whatever the OS at the time).
HTH,
Slau

One more thing that just occurred to me: if you're simply upgrading and not nuking and paving, probably most of the settings from the previous installation will remain the same but it's always a good idea to review settings when doing something major like an OS upgrade.

Hi Slau,

This is a new installation of Protools. Have you worked with step recording within Protools?
Best regards and thanks,
Christian

If it's a new installation and you've never set up an OS for Pro Tools, you'll definitely need to go through all of the necessary tweaks.

I don't use Step Record but it is doable in Pro Tools. I'm sure there's probably a chapter on it in the Reference Guide.

OK, and the tweaks can be found in the getting started guide?
Thanks,

Step record is when you enter MIDI notes one at a time using the num pad rather than playing a keyboard.

Hi guys,
I Haven't use my num pad for step record but I have used my Kurzweil K2500x midi keyboard to step record midi notes before! :)
