Some questions for which audio interface and computer to use for my ProTools system

Hi everyone.
I am planning on getting a ProTools system at home in case I need to work remotely. I have a good idea what I would need for my ProTools system, but I am not sure which interface or computer to get. What audio interface would you recommend? Which interfaces are accessible and would work with the Avid S1 and the Dock control surface? I am planning to do editing and mixing in stereo and 5.1 surround primarily for audio description projects. I have a MacBook Air with an M2 chip that I received for my birthday last year. Would that be a good computer to use with ProTools, or will I need something more powerful like the MacBook Pro, Mac Mini or the Mac Studio?

Hello, I have the Scarlet 18 I 20 interface which works pretty good with ProTools. It has eight preamps and they are also combo jacks.

Hi Andre.
Thanks for the info. I’ll see if I can find more info about the Scarlet interface online. I’ve also looked at the Avid Carbon interfaces online for ProTools. Has anyone used them and are these accessible? What other audio interfaces would be good options?

Hello,

The Focusrite Scarlett and Clarett audio interface models are highly accessible, especially in terms of the control application. The Clarett model is a higher end interface from focusrite.

I personally utilize the Avid S1, Avid Dock, and the Avid Carbon interface together with the latest Pro Tools Ultimate software on macOS Monterey with my Apple M1 Mac Studio. The Carbon audio interface integrates seamlessly into the Pro Tools software environment, allowing you the ability to monitor and adjust various parameters directly within the software. A blind or visually impaired user can also memorize the encoder knob and button layout for additional manipulation of parameters and settings.
