One more question, if I may:
What is the best technique for aligning (phrasing) multiple vocal
tracks, for example, a lead part and two supporting harmony parts,
when each singer is not cutting off at the same time or just singing
out-of-sync with the other vocals, etc.?
Should I be trying to stretch audio clips to make syllables line up?
If so, how can I do this with the keyboard?
Or, should I be using a 3rd-party plugin? I seem to remember something
on-list about ReVoice, but am not sure if that is accessible or the
recommended tool for voiceover users.
Thanks again for any clarification and tips anyone might be able to share.

A course of action would surely be determine by how close or how far out of sync the vocal performances might be. One can usually do quite a bit with some pure editing. However, plug-ins like VocALign Pro and VocALign Project do a great job. they're not accessible out of the box but I've created a series of free macros for each that make them very accessible.

Thanks Slau. Two things:
1. Where can I find instructions on how to time-stretch a clip or
section of a clip? Would that be via Elastic Audio?
2. Where can I acquire the macros for VocALign Pro, and is there a
difference between Pro and Project?
Thanks again.

You could conceivably use Elastic Audio but, in my opinion, it's clunky. X-Form works a lot more smoothly. Macros are in the Drop Box. VocALign Project is more basic, not too many options and somewhat cheaper. VocALign Pro offers a bit more flexibility, somewhat better results and is a bit more expensive. Looking out for SynchroArts sales is a good idea.

Hi everyone,

The last project I tried the elastic audio with for vocals was highly unsuccessful. I tried it myself and even had someone else cited try it and all it did was make the problem worse. I had a situation where the vocal was about an eighth of a beat or thereabouts off it was enough that you could hear it by ear but not so significant that it ruined the entire song. It was for a class project I was doing and I finally just gave up and the instructor Finally told me that it was close enough and I had already made the a grade for the class. So, at that point I just threw up my hands and said forget it. In fact, it was the instructor who is the sighted person who tried to do it and since he was a proctor for the exams I figured you probably really knew what he was doing and if it didn’t work after he fought with it for a couple of hours I figured I certainly is an office user was not going to make it work and you better.

I don’t know if that helps but I figured I’d at least put in a couple of pennies worth.

Have a listen to this link. You’ll see what I’m talking about it happened in the first or second phrase. It’s like she rushed it’s just a little bit. Other things that happened that were wrong in the project we’re just because it was the second multi track project that I had ever tried to record mix and finalize in my life. This is a link in dropbox generated by me.
