I was wondering if anyone can point me to the source for the MathJAX to braille conversion. I am looking to see if I can make it able to provide either Nemeth within UEB or UEB technical codes as an option In the US sadly, BANA has accepted both UEB technical and Nemeth as math/scientific codes and different states have different preferences. My students all use UEB technical, but before college will need to learn Nemeth within UEB just in case. Having an ability to move back and forth among these codes will be invaluable for any math textbook to be universally helpful for the blind reader.

Dear Michael,

Despite being called "Speech Rule Engine" (SRE), the Unicode braille strings
come from this library, when used with MathJax.

https://github.com/zorkow/speech-rule-engine

We are aware of the two systems, but have concentrated on Nemeth with the
understanding that it is more valuable for more complicated expressions
typically found in university courses. (Which could be an imperfect reading of
the differences.)

Thanks for your interest in this! Holler if you need some better pointers into SRE.

Thanks. You did not misread regarding Nemeth. It was written for precisely math and science. We just refuse in the US to make up our dang minds.

But that’s where braille nerds come in ;)
