Please is there an image having Ubuntu 24 with gnu 3.10 installed and UHD 4.7? The current Ubuntu24 image on the website has UHD 4.6 installed on it, and it’s been very difficult to get it upgraded to 4.7, so that it can work with the SDRs

Thanks,
Chibu

Hello Chibu,

Do you have a hard requirement for UHD 4.7? We do not have a UHD 4.7
image currently, so it would be up to you to figure out how to install
this yourself if you must have it (after which you can create a custom
disk image to capture the installation for future use across
experiments). You would probably be better off starting with our
vanilla UBUNTU24 image and install UHD / GNU Radio on top of that so
as to avoid software/version conflicts. The URN for that image is:

urn:publicid:IDN+emulab.net+image+emulab-ops//UBUNTU24-64-STD

The section of the manul covering creating custom disk images is here:

https://docs.powderwireless.net/creating-profiles.html#%28part._profile-images%29

Hi Kirk,

No, I don’t have a hard requirement for UHD 4.7. I only requested for it because the custom image I’m using (which was modified from the vanilla UBUNTU24 image), is not recognizing the attached usrp when I run the “uhd_find_devices” command (I tried this using nuc22 on the attenuator matrix).

I had assumed the problem is because the USRP attached to the nuc is flashed with UHD4.7 not 4.6, hence my request for an ubuntu24 image having 4.7

Hi Chibu,

Feel free to use the command suggested in the error output to reflash
the firmware to match the version of UHD on the connected comute node
(after which you will need to use the POWDER UI to power cycle the
_radio_ for the updated firmware to take effect).

Thank you Kirk, I'll try that out.

Just to clarify, does the power cycle option on the powder UI, power cycle the compute node or the radio? Only one device shows on the list view (e.g. nuc23), which I assume is the compute node. Where can I find the individual radio unit so that I can power cycle it separately?

Thanks,
Chibu

Firmware mismatch should only happen with X310 (and possibly N310)
radios. This should never be a problem with B210s as the firmware is
always loaded dynamically on them.

Following up with a correction (since my memory failed me):

UHD 4.7 is what is installed on the current POWDER UHD / GNU Radio
image that we typically use in the profiles we make available. The URN
for this image is:

urn:publicid:IDN+emulab.net+image+emulab-ops//UBUNTU22-64-GR310

So I am very unclear about the problem you are encountering. However,
I see that you have requested an office hours slot for tomorrow, so
hopefully things can be cleared up during that session.

Okay, I'll explain the problem better during the session tomorrow.

Thank you.

Hi,

I'm scheduled for an office hour session right now, but I don't have the meeting link and can't see it on the invite. Please can someone help?

Thank you.

We arrange the Zoom link via email (due to the limitations of the scheduling
service we use, Calendly).

My understanding is that one of our staff arranged the Zoom link with you via
email. Please let me know if that is not true.

Sorry for any confusion ---

Eric.

Yes, Gary reached out to me with the link. I think his previous email may have been blocked by the spam filter.

Thank you for your help.
